Waxing
Waxing is one of the best choices for long-lasting, smooth skin. Unlike shaving, which only removes hair at the surface, waxing removes hair from the root, leaving you soft and stubble-free for up to four weeks. When the hair does grow back, it’s noticeably finer, softer, and more sparse with every session.
At Lacquer & Lashes Madera, we use a variety of professional wax formulas to ensure the best results for every skin type and sensitivity — because everyone’s skin deserves personalized care. From eyebrows to toes, and everything in between, we’ve got you covered for all your full-body waxing needs.
Doesn’t that hurt?
Look, it’s no secret, television and film have portrayed getting waxed to be so incredibly painful that it’s actually comical, but it’s really not as bad as it seems.
If you’re still particularly concerned about the pain, we understand. We offer a numbing cream that many customers absolutely swear by. Just purchase in-shop and apply 45-minutes prior to your waxing service.
The Benefits
Slower Hair Growth
With traditional shaving techniques, you’ll start to see hair growth returning in a matter of days, & you’ll feel the prickly hairs within hours. With waxing, that date can be pushed back to weeks before seeing or feeling any hairs growing back.
Can Be Gentler on Skin
The friction of a razor across the skin combined with how often shaving is needed can lead to rashes, hyper-pigmentation, or other forms of irritation. Waxing is a gentle form of exfoliation resulting in little to no irritation and smoothness that can last for weeks.
Fewer, Finer, Softer
Hairs shaved with razors grow back quickly and they’re sharp and stubbly upon return. With waxing, hair is actually removed entirely from the follicle resulting in fewer, thinner, and softer hair once it grows back.
What do i do before my wax?
Grow It Out
Yes, a little bit of prep work is recommended to get your best waxing experience. First, you’ll need to grow it out. To get the cleanest wax, hair must be the appropriate length of at least 1/4″, or about the length of a grain of rice. Usually this can be accomplished in about 2-3 weeks of no shaving. I highly recommend to grow your hair out as long as possible, with no trimming, the longer the better!
Exfoliate & Hydrate
Ideally, you will need to safely exfoliate the area 24-hours before your body waxing service. Gently using a scrub, exfoliating mitt or dry brush can be great ways to do this. Exfoliating the skin will help bring out all of the hairs so that they can all be removed for a cleaner wax.
Afterwards, hydrate the skin with a lightweight, fragrance-free body lotion , & you’re all set!
How do i take care of my skin post-wax?
To have the best results with the least irritation possible, you will need to keep the skin as clean as possible & wear loose fitting, breathable clothing over the waxed area. You will want to avoid these activities for the next 24-48 hours after your wax:
Take it Easy
- Extreme Heat
- Swimming
- Tight-Fitting Clothing
- Excessive Sweating or Friction
- Deodorant
Physical Exfoliation
A few days after your wax, it’s important to start physically exfoliating the skin to help prevent ingrown hairs and keep your results smooth. We recommend using an exfoliating glove in the shower 2–3 times per week. Gently massage the area in circular motions to remove dead skin cells and allow new hairs to grow through properly.
✨ First-time Brazilian wax clients receive a free exfoliating glove to get started with their aftercare!
Need an extra? Exfoliating gloves are also available for purchase in-salon for only $2.
Chemical Exfoliant
If you’re still noticing ingrown hairs or congestion even after regular physical exfoliation, your skin may need a little extra help. That’s where chemical exfoliation comes in.
Agent 88 spray-on Ingrown Hair Serum works tough on ingrowns & bumps dissolving dead skin buildup to clear trapped hairs beneath the surface, keeping your skin smooth and bump-free between waxes.
This easy-to-use serum is available in-salon for $29. Just spray it on clean, dry skin daily if you have active ingrowns, or a few times a week to maintain soft, even results.
Avoiding Breakouts
Avoiding sweating, and tight-fitting clothing over the waxed area is the best way to prevent a breakout. For most, these precautions are enough, however, some may need more help. In this case, we carry an anti-bacterial skin cleanser available for purchase at the salon for $10. This helps prevent, slow, or stop any breakouts on the body (not just wax-related).
Skin Hydration
Keeping your skin hydrated after waxing helps maintain softness, reduce irritation, and support healthy regrowth. Once your skin has calmed — typically 24 hours after your wax — begin applying a lightweight, fragrance-free body lotion daily to lock in moisture and keep your skin smooth.
For the bikini area, we recommend Fur Oil — a gentle, fast-absorbing oil made specifically for intimate skin and hair. It helps soothe, hydrate, and can also help prevent ingrowns while keeping the area silky and comfortable. Available in-salon for $28.
